Beautify your life. Preserve the earth.

India's first planned hill city

Here, environmental thinking guides every step of the development. The city planning is based on bio-mimicry, the science of using nature's best ideas to solve design challenges and sustain development. Lavasa is set amidst 7 virgin hills and 60 kms of picturesque lakefront – a scenic backdrop that the designers and management of Lavasa are committed to preserving.

The hills of Lavasa are rich in biodiversity, abounding with dense natural bamboo forests. To enhance the natural landscape while making the most of this rich natural offering, Lavasa established Bamboosa, a craft factory dedicated to the manufacture and popularisation of bamboo products and artifacts.

The objective? To open people's eyes to the beauty, versatility and strength of bamboo; to promote bamboo plantations as an ecologically responsible initiative; and to provide the backward local population with a viable trade and sustainable source of income.
